Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP)
Advanced Mediator - AMDRAS (NMAS)
E R I N M I L A
Erin is an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) and Advanced Mediator (AMDRAS) with extensive experience helping families navigate separation, parenting arrangements, and property settlements across both community and private practice.
Erin has held Senior FDRP and Acting Manager leadership roles in large Family Relationship Centres, where her work has extended beyond direct client engagement to supervising other practitioners, and contributing to the development of programs and models of care within the FDR sector — work that reflects a deep commitment to lifting practice standards across the field.
Erin's specialty is high conflict and complex presentations — entrenched disputes involving mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, trauma, or family violence. This clinical depth comes from a 15+ year career as a Registered Nurse, including extensive experience in AOD detoxification and residential rehabilitation, combined with a Master of Social Work. Together, this gives Erin a rare ability to assess risk, understand the interplay between health and family dynamics, and hold space for difficult conversations — all while keeping sessions safe, structured, and genuinely productive.
Erin also works extensively with FIFO and defence families, understanding the unique strain that extended separation, deployment, and irregular routines place on co-parenting arrangements.
In parenting matters, sessions are grounded in the best interests of the child and a trauma-informed approach, with the goal of reaching durable, future-focused Parenting Plans tailored to each family's circumstances.
In property matters, the focus is on supporting parties to meet their duty of full and frank disclosure under the Family Law Act 1975, with outcomes guided by what is just and equitable for both parties, supporting the negotiation of a Property Heads of Agreement that can be formalised into legally binding arrangements.
Across both processes, Erin draws on facilitative and other techniques as needed, adapting her approach to each family's circumstances, culture, and communication needs — helping parties avoid the cost and stress of litigation
Clients consistently describe Erin as calm, clear, and able to turn overwhelming conflict into manageable steps — creating a neutral space where everyone feels heard, even in the most challenging conversations.
